I have updated all of my pages (Classroom Organization, Behavior Management, etc.) So feel free to take a peek! As always, there will be MORE COMING SOON!
BUT...I also need your help and ideas....
This is my Math manipulative organization shelf. However, it is only semi-organized.
The tubs are filled with certain math materials~ bears, counters, cubes, shapes, blocks, chains, etc. However, my tubs aren't labeled. And I haven't organized the tubs in any sort of way.
HELP!!! I NEED IDEAS!!!
I am so obsessed with Daily 5 and absolutely love what it has produced for me in my guided reading. I have only scratched the surface of Daily 5 Math, but it is definitely something I want to implement into my classroom for next year. So, I was seeing if anyone had advice on how to organize this space and these materials for that. Or, maybe organize them in another way.
I am very open to new ideas so PLEASE SHOOT THEM MY WAY.
Thanks!

I don't know if this will help, but I labeled my tubs with pictures of what was inside. Our school gets boxes of catalogs for teacher supply stores. I grabbed 4 of the same catalog and found pictures for the manipulatives. I cut them out and glued them to the outside of the bins. There were a few items I couldn't find, so I took pictures and printed them at home on my color printer. It's easier for me to find what I am looking for now.
I am just starting to read my Daily 5 book, so I don't know exactly what you need for math. However, we do workshop for language arts. I use a pocket chart and pictures of the items students can choose from on my shelves. They have a card with their name on it. They put their name next to the item they are choosing to use.
I just started my blog last week. I think I will post some photos! Come on over and take a peek!

My tubs are clear, but I labeled them with numbers because students would put the tubs in any slot rather than group them. It forces them to practice their numbers. :-D
